In a nice example of Corporate Social Responsibility, Puma has announced that it will be ditching its shoe boxes and instead putting its trainers in “clever little bag”.
The reusable bag will be made from sustainable cotton grown in Africa mixed with recycled polyester, and the trainers will be protected by a cardboard frame inside the bag.
Cynics will note Puma's use of eco-friendly buzz words: sustainable, recycled, reusable, reducing carbon "pawprint". But this is a good example of CSR working for the company - reduced packaging is more environmentally friendly, the reduced weight means transport costs are reduced and Puma assures us that no jobs will be lost as a result. Puma is certainly benefitting from coverage of its "clever little bag".
