A very stimulating day at the annual Cambridge Digital Marketing Conference yesterday. http://www.marketingconference.co.uk . This is now the 4th year of this conference and it is becoming one of the major conferences on the CIM calendar .
The Keynote Address by Mike Nutley , the editor of New Media Age gave some very interesting themes including the amount of minutes spent online at Facebook in a month (500 bn ). Interestingly if there are 500 million users this equates to c33 minutes day . And is probably highly skewed to the student end of the user profile. Those users accessing via Mobile phone are likely to spend double the norm on Facebook .
This set the theme for much of the conference. - Numbers and Mobile Marketing .
With Mark Cook from agency Further presenting on search and social marketing and cataloging how long it took various technologies to reach 50million users. (radio 38yrs, tv 13yrs, www 5yrs, facebook 5 months) see full You tube video
There were stirling presentations from Google ( on analytics and optimising ) and Microsoft on Advertising and Behaviour Targeting .Followed by a very interesting insight into Mobile advertising by AdMob ( now a Google company) Watch the marketingconference.co.uk website for the upload of their presentations
The presentation this year from the new digital entrepreneur was from Magic Solver an iPhone apps company based in Cambridge who developed a World Cup Diary App which achieved 1.5 million users !
The final talk of the day was from Alan Moore, the founder of the Engagement Communication Consultancy SMLXL and originator of the term ‘Engagement Marketing’ . He gave a fascinating example of new thinking in the digital world , a video
of a similar “No Straight Lines” presentation at the Do Lectures can be seen here Video
